Alexa Erdogan is an interdisciplinary scientist and science communicator, with an avid interest in how science and society interact.

Her scientific background is in Molecular, Cellular, and Developmental Biology (B.S.) and Space Studies (M.S.), with a couple years of research experience looking at microglia and ischemic preconditioning. Currently, she is combining these two passions to better understand & communicate the impact of long-term spaceflight on human neurological systems.

Outside of academia, she writes and produces the Synapse Science Podcast. She has also returned to neuroscience writing over on Knowing Neurons as a science writer, editor, and producer.
